Top 10 Attractions at Everland Theme Park

Everland is, without a doubt, Korea's best amusement park. Modeled after Disney World- albeit on a much smaller scale- the theme park consists of plenty of fun attractions that draw in more than 7 million visitors a year. With those attendance numbers, one can only imagine what the weekend crowds are like, particularly at peak times, such as summer vacation.

Which is why I was happy to learn on on my most recent visit with my blogger buddy Ken that the park is actually delightful during the week. In fact, we weren't even bothered by the scorching summer temps, as there were practically no lines for the rides. This allowed us to see a lot of the park comfortably and at our own pace. Additionally, the shuttle bus we booked with Funko made getting there easy as pie.

Getting Into the Halloween Spirit, Seoul Style

Halloween isn't a traditional holiday here in Korea but over the past decade or so, it has begun to slowly seep into the nation's culture.  In Seoul, decorations can occasionally be spotted in store fronts and costumes can be purchased at super-centers like E-Mart and Home Plus.  Kindergartners go trick-or-treating at their English hagwons and bars offer cash prizes to the best-dressed vampire, cartoon character, or sexy bunny.

There are a number of events going on in Seoul around the 31st (including a Halloween booze cruise and a Freak or Treat Marathon) but if you're like me, you just can't wait until the end of the month to start celebrating.  Check my suggestions below on how to get into the Halloween spirit, Seoul style.

Halloween at Everland

Did you know that the theme parks in Korea celebrate Halloween now? Yes!!  This Holiday is still a bit new and foreign for most Koreans, but the younger generation has started to take a liking to it for sure. While it is not quite as popular as it is next door in Japan~ slowly, but surely more festivities are being embraced by the public and not just the expat community here♥

School trips and adventures!

I’ve enjoyed a few lazy days in the last few weeks. Each year group at my school has had a field trip and the 6th graders were fortunate enough to go on a three-day field trip to Seoul, museums and theme parks. It seems to be a right of passage for 6th grade students throughout the land to make a pilgrimage to Everland, Korea’s foremost amusement park. I’m assuming Everland is the largest theme park in the world as every single school appears to send their students away in the same week. The knock-on effect for me has been various days of no lessons and a bit of desk-warming, youtube watching and winter camp preparation.

Everland Theme Park - Special Discount Coupon

This week it is the Chuseok Holiday. As a result you'll have a few days off and may be wondering 'what to do in Seoul/Korea at Chuseok?'

In Seoul and smaller towns many places will be closed as Koreans opt to spend the time at home with their families. Some attractions remain open though and it's a great time to visit them because they will most likely be quieter than usual. One such place is Everland. Currently they have a Halloween theme which is actually one of my favourite times to visit the park. Definitely beats the 'Rose Festival' theme!
