Things you must do in Korea during Summer Holiday

♬Hot summer. Hot, hot, summer, summer♬ Like the lyrics of f(x)’s song “Hot Summer,” it is speechlessly hot in Korea. Some people in Jeju even make a joke that Jeju is “Jefrica” now. However, it doesn’t mean that you have nothing to enjoy but the cool breeze from an air conditioner at home. We’ve prepared Summer fun to enjoy that can be hard to find in other seasons.

My 1st Day Teaching in Vietnam

It’s so hot here. So hot. So jungly. Me and my heat rashes are definitely going through an adjustment period!

My morning walk...gorgeous but fucking hot as fuck

MERScation Continues: Sunday on Daecheon Beach

As I mentioned in the previous post, the MERS scare has caused a beautiful rarity for us teachers in Cheonan: SCHOOL HAS BEEN CANCELED! Most of us are experiencing a glorious four to five day weekend.

In celebration of this vacation, I went to Daecheon Beach with a group of twelve foreign teachers and one native Korean. Daecheon Beach is about an hour away from Cheonan via Korail. Korail is basically like America’s Amtrak, but with nicer, velvety seats. I spent the short trip gazing out the window at rice paddies, which was a relaxing and fun activity in and of itself.

Once we got to Daecheon, a new friend introduced me to the best goddamn food on the planet: dakgangjeong. Dakgangjeong is wonderful chicken with a peanutty flavor.

Upcoming Busan Sand Festival

This weekend (29th May) sees the start of the Busan Sand Festival at Haeundae beach. The theme for this years festival is children’s stories (fairy tales) and there are some really excellent sculptures to greet the visitors.

For the last week I strolled along the beach to chat to the artists and see the progress they are making.

The first note, is that they are all professional sculptors and travel the world producing their art for all to see.

The sculptors come from Holland, Mexico, Korea, Italy, USA and Canada. To many of us, and I was one until this week, it just seemed that carving shapes in the sand was all that there was to this art form, but how wrong could we be! – I cannot even get a kiddies bucket of sand to stand up.

Surfing in the USA? No, Surfing in Korea!

Surfing is something quite common in the Western countries, but not as common in Korea because of the lack of strong waves or even the culture. But recently, passionate Korean surfers as well as foreigners started to dig the perfect surfing spots, which then made surfing pretty popular.

And of course, Trazy is now offering travelers the chance to experience it!

One of our Trazy users, Hui Jeong R went surfing on one fine day in Songjeong Beach, Busan. Let’s hear her story! :)

Vlog Entry #16: Beaches, Boats and Bikes in Thailand

I finally got around to stringing together the footage from my 10-day trip to Koh Lanta and Bangkok this past February! From the beautiful beaches, to the beat-up boats, to the bumpy bicycle rides, Thailand was full of character and adventure!
