Things to Do in Korea

Schinster’s Street Drama

Last week I had the pleasure of being introduced to an amazing photographer who grew up in Ulsan and has since moved on to become one of most interesting photographers I have met. Schinster as he calls himself grew up around downtown Ulsan and has returned to show some of his amazing works.

Photographing the Busan Fireworks Festival 2012 Pt.2

If you haven’t read the first post you can read it here. At any rate, I am going to elaborate more on the topic and provide some great information about actually getting decent shots from this weekend. Since this will be my first actual time heading there with the intent of capturing images and not just enjoying the moment, I will be showing images of past firework events that I have been to. Don’t worry the information and techniques will be exactly the same.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk Ulsan 2012 Update

Just  a quick update on the progress of the Worldwide Photo Walk. I have  recently set up a facebook event to get more awareness. I have posted the link around the local groups but feel free to share.

Fundraising event!!

Hey everyone! This is the first time that I have tried something like this. So, I have the opportunity to buy a really sweet espresso machine but the catch is that I am married and my wife will most likely kill me if I spend $800 on a used espresso machine (plus grinder and goodies!)… really…. she  would…

Day Trippin': Nami Island

I love living in a city. I've even gotten to the point where I don't think I'd be able to survive not living in a city. I have to admit, however, that sometimes it's nice to get away from the neon and concrete, if only for a day. One of the great things about Seoul is that there are a variety of places nearby that allow residents and visitors to escape the city and explore the softer side of Korea.

One of the best day trips to take, so long as the weather permits, is to Nami Island. Situated in Chuncheon, 60km east of Seoul, Namiseom is a small oasis of culture and tranquility (when it's not packed with people).

Flash Light Photography Workshop: Recap

Participants test some of the new skills they learned during Saturday’s Workshop in Busan.

Out with the Guys

The other night I had a great night out with a couple of great photographers, James Pawlowski and Ben Hobson  At any rate, it was great to be standing on top of a building near the petro chemical complex with two great photographers.

Buddha’s Birthday Review

I love this time of year. I am not Buddhist but I do feel a great sense of calm when I am at temples, but sadly depending on the time you go, calm might not be achieved. However, this year I had a really great experience and even a personal tour of Junggwangsa.

Flashlight Workshops BUSAN: Off Camera Flash

These days I have been hearing a lot of talk about workshops for photographers in Korea. No doubt they exist but are probably hard to come by in English. Fortunately, Flashlight Expeditions is running regular workshops around the country to meet the needs of aspiring photographers.

Busan Workshop

On June 16th, Dylan Goldby will be in the bright lights of Busan, to make it even brighter by showing us how to use  off camera flash. This is one of the trickiest things to master with photography in some senses, but a working knowledge will payoff in the long run. Dylan will cover wide range of topics directly related to you, the photographer who wants to learn about off camera flash in Korea. Here is what the course will entail (excerpt from www.flashlightexpeditions.com):

Birthday Post!!

Well it is my birthday so I thought that I would drop a quick post in here and share some thoughts about the year gone by. I must say that this has been a great year and one that I will remember for a long time. Photographically it has been great too.
