The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk 2015

gonguptap (11 of 11)The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is always my favorite time of the year. It is an event that gets photographers from all over the world to come together for a day a photography and for a really good cause. In my mind, this is one of the best events and not simply because I lead one every year. I say that it is the best because they are not only making the lives of children better but also making a great experience all around.

Just a quick update on the photowalk a few weeks ago. As you know, we had many talented photographers with us and I was very happy with the turnout.  However, for the local contest, it was Macbeth Omega that one our contest! Not only that, but he was one of the TOP TEN FINALISTS!!

2014 Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

group

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of once again hosting the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. I decided to change the location to Gyeongju this year as I thought that it would appeal to more people than having it in Ulsan. My assumption was correct and we had over 20 people show up. It was a great turn out for a great day of shooting.

The day is finally coming up and I hope that everyone is ready. If you haven’t registered yet please do. The reason for registering is simply to be eligible for the prizes from Scott Kelby and that is pretty much it. So, if you don’t feel like submitting your info, you don’t have to. If you are competitive and want to submit your photos into the main photo contest then I believe that you are obligated to. At any rate, What I want is for everyone to come out and have a good time.

While watching Scott Kelby’s video about his Photo Walk in Paris, he mentioned a lot about how his wife, Kalebra Kelby is an “iPhoneographer” and how she constantly inspired him, especially with her use of the “Ansel” filter in Camera+. After watching I cycled through my many camera apps and wondered why I don’t use Camera+ that often. The reason is that for a photo app, it just doesn’t offer me enough editing modes to satisfy me.

Kelby Training

Recently, on one of the many Facebook groups that I read, someone was asking about Kelby Training. They were wondering if it was worth the money or not. In short, I believe it is… if you want to commit to learning and the time.

Disclaimer: Kelby Training did not pay me for this post. I am merely posting it to help direct people over that way who are considering getting a subscription. They have not given me anything to say these nice things, I am just saying them because I am extremely satisfied with their courses and online training.

What I mean by this is if you are just looking for some quick tips, they have those but the real value for you is in the courses that are  designed like a real photography course with materials to download and step-by-step instruction. It takes some time, often a few hours to get through each of the courses and you really start to see the value in it.

The 2012 Worldwide Photo Walk in Ulsan

Well, it is Monday and the #WWPW is still trending on Google+ so you know it was a great event. In Ulsan, it was no different. The event went off without a hitch and I am happy to say that a lot of people showed up with photographers coming all the way from Eonyang and Busan.

The photo walk was great for me as I got a chance to explain a few things about photography to new photographers and meet a lot of new people. There is also something great about showing people the effects that you can do with depth of field and a 50mm F1.4 can do.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk Ulsan 2012 Update

Just  a quick update on the progress of the Worldwide Photo Walk. I have  recently set up a facebook event to get more awareness. I have posted the link around the local groups but feel free to share.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk 2011

It is that time again! Time to get the photogs out and get some shots at Scott Kelby’s 2011 Worldwide Photo Walk! While I am still getting ready for this year’s photowalk which will be held in the Taehwa River Grand Park, I have a few questions for those who are interested in a day of photography and a great time.  Before I get to the questions, I guess I should explain what a “Worldwide Photo Walk” is.

Cool Purchase #1: Imagenomic’s Noiseware

While I was on a shoot for 10 Magazine, I encountered a problem: noisy pictures. When your are shooting in dark areas and need sharp shots you often need to bump up the iso. The general rule is that you should shoot in the lowest possible iso that you can, in order to reduce the noise. In this case, I was shooting between iso 800 and 1600. Suffice to say that the images were noisy and not up to snuff.
