Evan and Rachel’s Passport Tag!

As you know we recently went on a short trip to Japan! While going through immigration and looking through our passports, I realized that I hadn’t left Korea in over a YEAR!! I was definitely ready for a vacation, even if it was only 3 days!

It’s always fun to look through my passport and reminisce about all of the wonderful places I’ve had the opportunity to visit in the past 5 years. SO I had the idea to make a passport tag! I think looking at other travelers passports and hearing their stories is so interesting. Please feel free to answer the tag questions in the comments or upload your own video as a video response on our youtube channel! We’d love to hear from you.

QUESTIONS:
1. What is your most recent stamp?
2. What was your first stamp?
3. What’s your coolest looking stamp?
4. What’s the most meaningful stamp?
5. What was the most difficult stamp to get?

Question about visa for India!

Hi all-

I'm traveling to India in August and am trying to figure out the visa process.  I'm American and live in Busan.  I'll be traveling there for 2 months. It's unclear to me whether the visa is issued for 3 months or 6 months, and if only three months, does it expire 3 months from the ISSUE date?  I will leave Busan on July 19th but not get to India until August 12th (traveling elsewhere first).  So do I need to crunch two visits to Seoul in my last week in Busan or can I send it in the mail and not be as stressed out?

Thanks for any advice and help!!!

Jean

Passport Supersized

As we prepped for our next trip at the end of the month I realized that I was running into an issue. My passport was about out of space which could in fact cause an issue. Having less than 4 pages could stop me from traveling in or out of the country and while being stuck on the shores of Boracay seems like a plan to me, Nicole, Eunee and the Baby-to-be thought otherwise.

Passport, and Visas and CRCs...Oh My!

Many people have questions about the processes for obtaining your passport, Visa, and Criminal Record Check in order to travel abroad to teach English.  For those interested in coming to Korea, I try to touch on the details of each of the processes.

Getting your Visa and Criminal Record Check (CRC) can be tedious and time consuming.  Plan wisely, prepare your documentation carefully, and get started ASAP.  You'll be glad you did in the end.

I hope it is helpful.  Even more, I hope to see you here soon.

My Life in 10 Objects

I do this kind of regularly…not as regularly as I like to talk about myself, which I’m going to do a lot about in this post.

I see a blog post that someone else has written and then change the contents and talk about myself. I think you call it a meme. The more I read blogs, what with the whole blogging that I do myself, the more I’m inclined to copy other people’s posts and give my own take on a particular topic. There were a few about Korea and particular articles that were poorly drafted and spoke poorly of the land of the morning calm (heaven forbid). The thing is, I’ve no idea how I managed to ever get into this because I hardly read any blogs about Korea, at least not intentionally (a few links pop up on twitter and give them an ould click and my five minutes, but only every so often, and I won’t go into why I don’t do this now)

Start carrying your ID's, people

Something you should be doing anyway, but here's another good reason to carry ID with you. From the Korea Times:

The Korea Immigration Service's crackdown on illegal immigrants this year has been met with controversy due to allegations its officers are making random checks on those who look like foreign workers.

Members of the legally residing foreign community are also upset at the failure to stick to a legal set of procedures.

"Immigration officials make raids on the street," said a foreign scholar in Seoul who spoke on condition of anonymity.

She said three Nepalese foreigners were grabbed on their way to get a haircut recently, while a pregnant woman was taken outside of the city last week. Others are caught during routine shopping errands, she said.
