The view that this Vajra Warrior gets to enjoy at Geumwangsa Temple in Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do.

Hello Again Everyone!!

Geumwangsa Temple, which is located south of the city centre of Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, is ten to fifteen years old and definitely has that new feel to it. While largely overshadowed by its more famous neighbour, Boriam Hermitage, Geumwangsa Temple has some pretty spectacular views of its own.

Namhae, September 6-9, 2014

We decided to go camping in Namhae for the vacation time during the Chuseok holiday. Namhae is a quaint beach town a 2-1/2 hour bus ride from Busan.

From the Busan West Bus Terminal (부산서부시외버스터미), it costs 11,900 to take the bus to Namhae (남해 시외버스 터미널). I recommend camping at Sangju Beach (상주은모래비치). There isn’t much to do or eat there, but it has facilities for camping (including bathrooms and showers in the summer). I highly suggest bringing food, but there are many marts around that sell drinks and instant ramen, etc..

A Trip To Europe

History is what it is.  I don’t dwell on the past. I do examine, and learn from it to the best of my abilities.

If you haven’t noticed by the picture, I’m going to talk about the Korean dispersion into Germany.

As an interesting fact, though, most people think Australia is all about Crocodile Dundy, Steve Irwin, kangaroos, and the outback.  Well, don’t forget, there are a lot of Germans in Australia, A LOT.  I’ve seen so many Germans in Australia that I actually can recognize the REAL English German accent.  The American movies have got it all wrong.

In any respect, off to Deutschland! (Germany in German). ✈ ✈ ✈

The Summer is HERE…Camping Trips!!!

The weekend of the 10th and the long weekend of the 16th (Buddha’s birthday) David and I went camping in Namhae Island. Yipppeeeeeeeeeeee the summer is officially here! The first weekend was a tester. We wanted to make sure that the tent was still in good shape after being packed away over the winter. Overall both weekends were very successful.

We spent both weekends camping on Songjeong Beach. We chose this beach because it is one of the most beautiful beaches we have seen in Korea and it is free to camp, plus you can park your car right next to your tent. Whereas on Sangju beach you can’t. We explored a lot of the island over the two weekends.

Road to Namhae

Tuesday, early as hell AM.

It was 5:45; the earliest I had been up in years and it was still dark when I left the apartment.  I arrive at the bus terminal for the second time in 12 hours to try to snag tickets in the midst of the busiest holiday in Korea.  I was accused of lunacy the night before for waiting till the day-of to purchase tickets.  You can’t get tickets in advance anyhow, and I had already promised all my friends I had it in the bag, just meet me at 9:15 at the terminal.
