Makgeolli Cocktail File – Cherry Mak & Tonic

And that’s exactly what it is!  When browsing through the fresh food section of the supermarket, we noticed the first fresh cherries on the shelves.  So we thought, why not chop them up and put them in a makgeolli cocktail?  The result was a surprisingly delicious treat!  The bitter sweetness of the fresh cherries mixed so well with the sour makgeolli, and the tonic just gave it that edge.   After giving it a good pulse in the blender with some ice, a nice foamy head topped off a pretty awesome cocktail.

For this meeting, Mamas & Papas are headed to Seodaemun-gu for some premium makgeolli and ‘slow food’. The makgeolli at this place is fermented for 3 months in jars, and is overseen by the President of Korean Traditional Liquor Research Institute. In other words….they know what they’re doing!

Mama Julia Featured in AngloInfo Seoul

I have recently had the pleasure of hanging out with Danielle and Todd from AngloInfo Seoul. AngloInfo is an expat information and directory, and I have to say, I have found it incredibly useful. What makes AngloInfo better than most other expat sites out there is how personal Danielle and Todd make it. They are out there meeting expats and connecting people, and it’s so nice to have that contact. Todd was nice enough to interview me about life in Korea, and more importantly MMPK! If you haven’t checked out AngloInfo yet, I highly recommend you do so.

Meeting 11 – In The Alley (길목에서) Photo Gallery

For this meeting, we were personally recommended this not so well known location and we were pleasantly surprised. The makgeolli was super fresh and the food exceeded our expectations. In The Alley is a fantastic location for a rainy day makgeolli indulgence :)
