2013 Burns Night Charity Ball

_MG_4137

Back in January, I had the distinct pleasure of once again shooting the Burns Night Charity Ball. If you are not familiar with Burns Night, they are usually nights put together to honour one of Scotland’s greatest poets, Robert Burns. Ulsan however, has turned it into one the best charity fundraisers in the area.

Google+ Communities

google

Recently Google+ which is already a haven for photo-buffs came out with an answer for the ever so popular “Facebook Group” Now, if you have ever dipped into the wealth of social activities that is Google+, you will know that it is sort of a hit and a miss.

What I mean by that is while there are thousands of people on Google+, but most of my “friends” are still on Facebook and communicate through that directly. However, most of my professional contacts and photographer friends use Google+. Some have said that it is “over-saturated with photographers” but if you are a fan of my photographer then you will know that this is right up my alley.

Ulsan Future of Photography Forum

I have the great opportunity to speak tomorrow night at a Photography forum in Ulsan. At the moment as I am preparing my speech, I am a little overwhelmed. This is one of those events that I was casually asked to do and then when I head to the meeting just days before the event, they drop a bomb like “Oh you will be speaking for an hour because you are the only speaker… how good is your Korean???”

Night Shots of Onsan

With the December meet up of the Photographers in Ulsan Photography Club, I thought that I would make this post about how to get the shots from that location, so that people can get some practice and make the best out of their time.

Schinster’s Street Drama

Last week I had the pleasure of being introduced to an amazing photographer who grew up in Ulsan and has since moved on to become one of most interesting photographers I have met. Schinster as he calls himself grew up around downtown Ulsan and has returned to show some of his amazing works.

Photogene 2

While watching Scott Kelby’s video about his Photo Walk in Paris, he mentioned a lot about how his wife, Kalebra Kelby is an “iPhoneographer” and how she constantly inspired him, especially with her use of the “Ansel” filter in Camera+. After watching I cycled through my many camera apps and wondered why I don’t use Camera+ that often. The reason is that for a photo app, it just doesn’t offer me enough editing modes to satisfy me.

Photographing the Busan Fireworks Festival 2012 Pt.2

If you haven’t read the first post you can read it here. At any rate, I am going to elaborate more on the topic and provide some great information about actually getting decent shots from this weekend. Since this will be my first actual time heading there with the intent of capturing images and not just enjoying the moment, I will be showing images of past firework events that I have been to. Don’t worry the information and techniques will be exactly the same.

I Got it!!!

So about a month or so ago, I started a project to see if I could get the espresso machine of my dreams using only the income earned from my photography. When I started I thought that it would be an easy thing. Little did I know that social or crowd funding was such a tricky business.

It was a long few weeks of campaigning and posting. Strangely enough, there was a mixed response largely due to how I put across my intentions. Most took this project as a “Something for nothing” type of deal rather than what I was thinking it was, and that was a “help me out in exchange for photos of Korea” deal.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk Ulsan 2012 Update

Just  a quick update on the progress of the Worldwide Photo Walk. I have  recently set up a facebook event to get more awareness. I have posted the link around the local groups but feel free to share.
