Top 10 Things to Do in Seoul

I've been writing Seoul Searching for just over five years now and although I've mentioned a lot of great places to visit, it recently came to my attention that I have yet to put together a list of the best things to do in the city. Of course, "best" is a highly subjective word, and while everyone has their own ideas of what a visitor should experience during his or her stay, I have my own personal favorites. So, without further ado, here are the top ten things you should do on your stay in Seoul:

10. Tap into your artsy side

Love is like Ice, it will Trick you! - Unique museums in Seoul.

4th episode with our dearest friend, Charly!

She went to explore the most unique and popular museums right now in Seoul. If you want to have some fun then this is the place for you.

In the middle of Hongdae, the street of youth and indie music, stands a very special museum that you can enjoy. It’s called Trickeye Museum and it recently added two more theme museums- Ice & Love.

The first museum that Charly visited is the Ice Museum where everything is made of ice, which means it’s cold and perfect to cool down during hot humid Korean Summer.

Secondly, she went to the Trickeye Museum which is right next to the Ice museum. As the name suggests, it’s all about tricking your eyes. It’s fun because you can take super fun pictures with different situations. Not only kids but adults actually love this place as well.

Last is the PG 19 (in Korea), the Love Museum which is one step above the Trickeye museum. It basically offers the same experience as Trickeye but with a sensuous and sexual theme. The background and pictures are pretty raw and down to earth(?). No kids or teenagers are allowed here!

Trazy offers free coupons for all three of the museums so simply click on the name and download it.

Also, don’t forget to vote for your favorite! :)

July 5th Meeting Registration OPEN!!!

Time flies when you’re drinking makgeolli, and it’s already time for our next meeting! This meeting will be a little different from our regular meetings, as the location is quite small and features a round bar.  It’s a very intimate location and we could potentially be the only customers at the time, so we will be keeping numbers strictly small for this road test.

Color Me Rad Korea!

At the weekend we took part in a Color Me Rad run in Seoul. It was a lot of fun! The event was held in Seoul Olympic Sports Complex. As it was extremely busy there was not a chance to run, it was more of a fun walk but this was okay with me. At various points of the course colour tunnels were set up. The first colour was orange, then pink, blue and yellow. As you walked through a group of volunteers threw coloured powder all over you!  The atmosphere of the event was fantastic. Everybody was having a lot of fun and were very happy to be covered in so much colour! To participate in the race the sign up fee was 35,000 won. This included a t-shirt and a pair of sunglasses. There were also a lot of freebies to be had at the end of the race. Everybody got their own colour powder pouch(s), wet wipes and vitamin water(s).  It was a very messy experience but I am glad we did it!

It reads like sodomy… right? It’s funny…...

It reads like sodomy… right? It’s funny… right?! Alright, I’m immature, I get it… Oh well.

Registration For July 20th Meeting Open!!

Our last few meetings have been on the upscale side of the makgeolli scene, so for this meeting we thought we would try something a little more casual. The place we are headed is in hongdae, has a wide range of makgeolli, and also some interesting dong dong ju combinations. Spaces are limited, so get those emails in quick! Send us a message at mmpkorea@gmail.com to get your spot:)

May I have this silent dance? *Korea Silent Disco*

Hongdae, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Seoul, Korea, is known for being loud and full of music. Every night you can count on the area’s public spaces to be full of spontaneous and talented performers and one can not ignore the deafening beats blaring from the many clubs that line Hongdae’s narrow streets. But one random night each month is reserved for a different kind of party.
