Goyang Makgeolli Festival 2016

The blossoms are blooming and we are mid-way through this year’s cherry blossom season, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more flowers to be amazed and take selfies in front of!  And what better way to enjoy the spring air and newly sprung flowers than with some makgeolli in hand?  Thankfully someone else thought of this winning combination, and made a festival specifically for flowers & makgeolli.

Destination: Seooreung (Goyang)

Just across the Seoul border rest some once-royal dead people. UNESCO certified as being significant to world culture, these western (서, or seo) five (오, or o) tombs (릉, reung or neung) are the original remains of Joseon-dynasty royalty. At over 1,600,000 square meters, there's plenty of room to meander and enjoy the area - and these days there's more than five tombs to see.

Destination: Baedari Brewery / Traditional Wine Museum (Goyang / Ilsan)

EDIT 10:55AM 25 November 2009: HT to Acorn in a Dog's Food for pointing out an incorrect history lesson - I've removed the offending sentence.
