NIK Analog Efex Pro 2

analog efex-2

The recent big news in the photo world is that google just updated their analog efex plugin. I must admit that I was a little surprised as the first version came out not too long ago. If you are unfamiliar  with what I am talking about then check out google’s NIK Software package or the post that I wrote about it before reading on.

Sunset Day

In honour of the Weather Channel’s Sunset Day event on Google+ I thought that I would show a few of my recent sunset shots. In the recent months, there have been some spectacular sunsets. Part of my interest in this event is because of my geography background. My final course that I took was climatology and that helped give me an interest in weather and things like this.

Nik Software

There has been a lot of talk about Google buying the industry gem that is NIK Software. If you are not familier with NIK these are the people who make great plugins for programs like Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture.  These plugins span a wide range of artistic styles and will nicely fit into your style, I am sure, as well.

I don’t too much into the debates about NIKON or CANON, Google+ or Facebook. My main concern here is  ”do these plugins actually work or are they just putting crap over-top of my photos?” and “Will they make my post processing easier?” Suffice to say that these plugins do in fact work well, especially inside of Lightroom 4 and they do make my editing a lot easier.

What Makes a Photographer?

Photographer

The statement goes “You are Not a Photographer. You just have an overpriced camera” That was the graphic that peeked my interest in the short lived discussion that I was eavesdropping on. The OP or original poster put most of the people that he saw with DSLR cameras into this category. A little irked by this blanket statement that could very well apply to me, I turned to the world’s largest photography forum… Google+

Korea-related Google Plus Communities

Google+ Communities

google

Recently Google+ which is already a haven for photo-buffs came out with an answer for the ever so popular “Facebook Group” Now, if you have ever dipped into the wealth of social activities that is Google+, you will know that it is sort of a hit and a miss.

What I mean by that is while there are thousands of people on Google+, but most of my “friends” are still on Facebook and communicate through that directly. However, most of my professional contacts and photographer friends use Google+. Some have said that it is “over-saturated with photographers” but if you are a fan of my photographer then you will know that this is right up my alley.

Photogene 2

While watching Scott Kelby’s video about his Photo Walk in Paris, he mentioned a lot about how his wife, Kalebra Kelby is an “iPhoneographer” and how she constantly inspired him, especially with her use of the “Ansel” filter in Camera+. After watching I cycled through my many camera apps and wondered why I don’t use Camera+ that often. The reason is that for a photo app, it just doesn’t offer me enough editing modes to satisfy me.

Hacker Trash

So I have spent the last week or so combing through codes and files on my server to find where the nasty malware codes were hidden. It was an annoying process but I learned a lot and I will share with you my experience. I know that this has nothing to do with Korean Photography but being as everyone that I know takes photos and probably has a blog, this may be useful. Blogs and websites, as you know are all prey for these jerks and the more you know the safer you are.

Things you must know

Google + for Korean Photographers

I have been playing around with Google + now for a few weeks and have realized that it is a great place… mostly for photographers. Well, at least in my circles anyway. Since it started up it seems that many photographers like Trey Ratcliff have take full advantage of the social networking capabilities of this new social network and created vast lists of photographers around the world. I have even had the great opportunity to do a hangout with some great people in the creative community like Chris Backe Britt Kee and Steve Miller, all thanks to Jeff Lebow of the Korea Bridge.
